Studio Policies
LESSON LENGTH AND FEES
Registration Fee: $15
Tuition: 40 minutes ($30) or 60 minutes ($45)
*Bills are prorated; each student pays the same amount from August-May of each year.
**Students who schedule lessons prior to peak hours (3:30-7:00) may be considered for a tuition deduction.
LESSONS
Each student receives 15 lessons during each academic semester for a total of 30 lessons a year. A minimum of four lessons are required during the summer, but the student may schedule additional lessons. Once your lesson is scheduled, Mr. Smith reserves that time slot for the student. Changes to lesson schedule, after a time has been agreed upon by both parties, may be considered only in an extenuating circumstances. On rare occasions, Mr. Smith may need to reschedule for performances or meetings.
PAYMENT
The student will receive an electronic invoice at the end of each month for the following month through PayPal. Payment may be made by check, credit card, or cash.
Payment for the entire month must be received at the first lesson or by the fifth day of each month when there is no lesson during the first week. There is a $10 fee for late payments and for returned checks that will be added to the following month’s bill. Failure to comply with these policies will result in termination of the student’s contract.
CONTRACT PERIOD
A student may discontinue lessons provided one month’s written notice. The student is responsible to pay for one month’s lessons from the day that Mr. Smith is informed of your decision to discontinue.
LOCATION
Lessons are given at the 1501 Butler Street. Parents may remain with the student for the duration of the lesson. Other arrangements may be made at Mr. Smith’s discretion.
MAKE-UP POLICY
A student may receive make-ups for lessons missed due to sickness and family emergencies. Lessons missed for parties, sports events, other recitals, and school conflicts will be made up at Mr. Smith’s discretion. Please give 24-hour advance notice for missed lessons. No-shows will not receive make-ups.
A student will receive no more than TWO make-up lessons per academic year. Any make-up lessons not rescheduled by the start of the new academic year will be forfeited.
MUSIC
Each parent is responsible to provide music for his/her child in a timely manner. The student may purchase music through the provider of your choice, including internet stores, as long as the delivery time does not impede the student’s musical progress.
It may not be necessary to purchase new music if he/she have an older sibling or neighbor who has used the books we need. As long as the music is in good shape, there is no problem reusing books.
COMMUNICATION
All emails concerning a student must be sent from an account from which parents have access. Students may not, under any circumstances, send text messages to Mr. Smith. Only parents may send texts concerning lesson times, running late, etc. when absolutely necessary.
Parents, please limit emails to brief questions about your schedule or tuition. If you need to discuss personal issues with Mr. Smith, please make an appointment in advance or do so during lesson time. Tuition covers only lesson times. Phone conversations or appointments concerning lessons that last longer than 30 minutes will be billed.
